Cloth Diaper Printing Adventure

First of all, cloth diapers are not what they use to be, and not at all what I imagined. I have actually grown pretty fond of what I thought was going to be a messy, disgusting, but necessary sacrifice for the sake of the environment. I will share my experience and some common misconceptions about cloth diapering at the end of this article if you are interested, but first- the fun stuff!

Small Business Saturday: Nurdle in the Rough

Small Business Saturday is about celebrating small businesses and their successes over the year! As a small business myself, I know what kind of hard work and dedication goes into every detail, especially for hand made products such as these. I came across Nurdle in the Rough through a fellow art teacher friend, and was instantly in love with her fine jewelry and message. I chose to highlight Kathleen Crabill because I think that more people should know about the her work and process, as she brings attention to the disastrous affects of marine debris and plastics in our oceans

I was so thrilled to be asked to speak at the Jupiter Lighthouse Art Center's Summer Camp last week. The Art center in collaboration with Mother Ocean (an organization dedicated to creating, inspiring, and empowering ocean advocates world wide), designed curricula around different local artists inspired by the ocean.

Florida Collaboration- Middle School Art Project

First, I used the projector to blow up Florida on the wall, and the students helped me place paper all over Florida and the surrounding water. We traced Florida and numbered all the papers. Then, students drew the numbers out of a hat to decide which one they would research- it was no surprise that most of the class wanted to research Palm Beach County because they live here, so we had to make it more fair. They researched in the computer lab, at home, and in libraries near by, with the goal of finding or creating symbols that could represent their area.
